Are Atkins Diet And Low Carb Diets Safe?

Low carbohydrate safe? How safe is Atkins diet? Low-carb and Atkins diets dangerous to your health? These are questions for dieters all over the world on fire.

I personally have tried low-carb diet and Atkins diet and this diet made me lose weight very quickly. But not only my body fat weight loss, I also lost muscle weight. I've been very clear muscle and lose fat because I can visually see the reduced muscle mass in the mirror.

This is certainly not healthy. Furthermore, the more muscle mass you lose, the harder your body shape. The end result is that you will end up thin but looked weak with loss of skin.

The frustrating part will be that once you are off the low-carb or Atkins diet, you will very likely get back all the weight you've lost and even more. This is because your muscles active and they continue to burn calories. Because you have less fewer muscle mass now, your body's metabolism or the capacity to burn calories is very slow.

In other words, when you put on weight again, you put on body fat, not muscle, if you do not exercise. You will be more fat and less healthy than before you went on a low carb or Atkins diet. For important compounds, because muscle tissue is lower resulting in lower metabolism so that calories burned smaller, you will get fatter.

Since then I have stayed away both low-carb and Atkins diet. Both types of diets are almost the same when they ask you to drastically reduce your carbohydrate consumption. Atkins diet a step further by advocating almost no carbohydrates for 2 weeks before adding some carbohydrates to your diet gradually thereafter.

In addition to loss of muscle, how low-carb diet safe? This is Dr. Dr. Lyn Steffen and Jennifer Nettleton of the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health commentated in the Lancet report, "low-carb diets for weight management far from healthy, given their relationship with ketosis, constipation or diarrhea, halitosis, headache and fatigue common to some names. "

The doctors warned that the protein diet increases the burden on the kidneys and alter the acid balance in the body. This also resulted in loss of minerals from bone stores and affect bone strength. The doctors later said that, "our most important criterion should be indisputable safety, and low-carb diet today fails this standard."

Dr Atkins, Atkins diet creator died in 2003 after he allegedly had slipped on an icy road and fatal headache. But his medical report stated that he has a history of heart attacks, hypertension and congestive heart failure.

Dr. Atkins is a medical condition associated with low-carb diet is the one who knows. Would you like to take risks by going on a low carb diet? I do not think I will. If I ever want to lose weight again, I would rather go on methods that have proven healthy eating and regular exercise rather than jumping on every fad diet.
